The “Steps”

This is a relatively small place off of 12TH street and Lamar on the edge of downtown Austin. This place, from what I hear, was supposed to be a small apartment building that would be on the side of a hill overlooking downtown Austin. They say that it was never built and all that they ever did was lay the foundation. This foundation is probably one of the weirdest ones I’ve ever seen because it is shaped like steps going down the hill with strange indentions and seemingly useless structures.

The main reason to come here would be the really nice view of the city and the abundance of artwork on the concrete walls that make up this place. Another strange sight to see is at the top of the hill behind the steps is a large 2-story house with a third rampart-like tower at the top. The outside of this house resembles a castle but it still has normal windows and is on the edge of a regular neighborhood. The time of night that I came here to take pictures made it hard to take a good picture of this house or the rest of the step-like foundation but I was able to get a few good shots of the graffiti on some of the walls, enjoy.

The flash in this picture appears to make the center of the word here look brighter but that’s almost how it actually looks. In that center spot there is a swirling vortex thingy. Neat-o!

This one’s pretty cool too and I think the face is cool but the flash just messed this one up a little unlike the one above.

Here’s another crazy face, I’m not sure but I might have an Idea who did it too. Naah, probably not.
