Suburban Underground Vadders

Superconducting Super Collider (SSC)
This is obviously the Magnet Development Laboratory building. I obviously didn’t go through this door because of the alarm warning. Allva has said that there was a police station very near by but I was so excited about the place that I figured they wouldn’t bother me if they saw that I was just taking pictures.
Walking around the side of the building I found what looks like an air vent – possibly for something underground. The tunnels that were dug for the atom smashing ring were underground so this is not unlikely. Walking around the outside it quickly became apparent that nature had taken over, especially in the middle of the summer there was much bug life going on. I was nearly being attacked by swarms of grasshoppers and there were spiders all over the place as well as wasps in every place that you would expect them.
The sign to the left reads: Prohibited Articles, The following articles may not be introduced into this facility: -Illegal drugs –Explosive devices –Dangerous weapons or materials. All persons entering this Government facility must upon request, allow examination of packages, boxes, brief cases or any other containers to ensure they contain no prohibitive articles.
All of this sounds pretty reasonable for a Machine Shop where they create parts to be used in “superconducting” or whatever.
I was able to get a decent picture of the inside of the Magnet Development Lab building through a reinforced window on one of the doors. I had heard that in a newspaper article on the internet, one of the buildings is now being used to store of all things, Styrofoam cups. FTF?? As you can see, there are stacks of boxes to the ceiling in this building.
From another angle I took a picture through a window that someone smashed the exterior tinted window so that the clear windows was exposed beneath. You can kind of see in the darkness the huge stacks of boxes. In the foreground you can see some neat controls hanging from a wire connected to the ceiling.
