Lone Star Brewery
Welcome to the original Lone Star Brewery! For those of you out of state, Lone Star Beer is about as Texan as you can get. While its not really the tastiest of beers, its got a name and a history that is undeniable. As with several other sites that I have visited, I found this one by being bored and driving around aimlessly. As I was doing so this place sort of fell in my lap. As I was driving by I saw a guy skateboarding down the sidewalk. I didn’t think much of it until I saw him roll straight through the wide-open front gates. This I thought was interesting because it looked like this place was still being used for something. I ended up deciding to follow suit and drove my car through the front gates and parked inside. Later I would find that this place has lots to offer, like gargantuan warehouse rooms, lots of machinery, pipes, tubes, stairs, tanks and mystery.
I decided that it probably would not be a good idea to stay long but I thought I could come up with some kind of excuse if I had to. The above picture, by the way, was taken from the train tracks just across the street that I later found to be a better, more discreet spot to park.
I quickly took a few snapshots while I was parked inside. I thought this sign was interesting and later found that these sighs were posted quite frequently throughout the site. It reads, “DANGER – Permit required – Confined space – Do not enter”. Neat!
This was just a few feet away, right outside on the front of the building. Yep, an emergency eyewash and shower station. The shower sign reads, “LIQUID CAUSTIC – Produce burns and severe eye injury. In case of contact flush skin and eyes with water at least 15 minutes.” Very Nice! Strange thing was that the 2 pictures above were both outside. Seems like a strange place to put the emergency eyewash station.
Almost all of the doors were open so I walked inside and took a few snapshots of the interior of this, the closest building.
The loading bay provides an easy way inside, and probably the reason why the doors are unlocked.
Another good picture of the loading bay and a skyway that connects two buildings.
