Suburban Underground Vadders

Black Bayou School

The school had a curved driveway in front in the shape of a “c” with a flagpole in the center island. Above is the center of the school, a covered walkway connecting the two buildings. Fortunately the covered walkway was still functional because it was about this time that it started to rain very lightly almost like mist.

Now, further down the driveway you can see what about 50 years of abandonment in the swamp of Louisiana has done to this building. There were trees growing straight from what used to be concrete through the small space between the overhang and the building.

What I felt was most impressive was the abundance and colorfulness of the ivy growing on the walls of the building.

Here you can see more foliage clinging to the windows. You might also notice that it almost looks like the grass has been cut. This is actually possible because there is a small farm house or something almost right next door. They never made their presence known to me while I was there but they might have been keeping an eye on the place.

More trees almost directly under the overhang. That Is almost the only place that they were growing, I guess it could be because someone mows the place occasionally.
